Lasithi is the eastern-most prefecture of Crete, south Europe – Mediterranean Sea, and the most “raw” one. Preserving the picturesque and localized feeling, the residents of Lasithi hold on to their tradition and customs. Lasithi is the area with the most -Blue Flag awarded- beaches in Greece (41! – for year 2012). The road network is in a good condition, and there are ongoing works to improve it more and more. The prefecture of Lasithi has two available seaports: one in Agios Nikolaos and one in Sitia, as well as an airport in Sitia that connects the city with Athens, Alexandroupoli, Rhodes, Kos, Kassos, Santorini, Preveza, via direct flight. Direct charter flights are also available, for traveling abroad.
