Ierapetra is the southern-most city of Europe and the largest city in the south coast of Crete. Built along the coast in the south coast of the prefecture of Lasithi, it has a lot to offer to visitors. History, nature, civilization, beaches and modern life coexist peacefully, with a vew of the Libyan sea. The main features of the area are the amazing beaches with the crystal-clear water, the large canyons, monasteries and beautiful churches, the simplicity of the residents and the intense nightlife. The castle of Kales adorns the port. Preserved is the house in which Napoleon Bonaparte stayed in, when his fleet set anchor outside the port. Ierapetra has its own way of leaving visitors with a sweet aftertaste and to satisfy all needs. The virgin island of Chrisi is the most important sight during the summertime. Internationally renown for its wonderful shores, Ierapetra is included in the catalog with the 50 most attractive areas in Southern Europe.
